This action continues implementation of the Department of the Air Force&#8217;s transition to the Warfighting Acquisition System and aligns acquisition authority and accountability at the portfolio level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of this transition:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All references to&nbsp;Program Executive Officers (PEOs)&nbsp;within the Modernization Process Model (MPM) will be synonymous to&nbsp;Portfolio Acquisition Executives (PAEs).&nbsp; Once relevant policy changes, we will replace the term \u201cPEOs\u201d with \u201cPAEs\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The memorandum delegates&nbsp;Decision Authority (DA), including Milestone Decision Authority (MDA),&nbsp;to the assigned PAEs for acquisition programs, with specified exceptions for designated&nbsp;SAE Special Interest Programs, ACAT ID programs, and programs for which the Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager\u2013Critical Major Weapon Systems serves as the Decision Authority.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As policy evolves to document expansions for PAE authority, the MPM will incorporate process and organizational changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/www.afacpo.com\/mpm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/PEO-to-PAE-Delegation-Memo-4-July-2026.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of PEO to PAE Delegation Memo - 4 July 2026.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-81bfe4cb-41e1-4293-8dea-d33acabe44cb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.afacpo.com\/mpm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/PEO-to-PAE-Delegation-Memo-4-July-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PEO to PAE Delegation Memo &#8211; 4 July 2026<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.afacpo.com\/mpm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/PEO-to-PAE-Delegation-Memo-4-July-2026.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-81bfe4cb-41e1-4293-8dea-d33acabe44cb\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology &amp; Logistics) directed the redesignation of all Air Force&nbsp;Program Executive Officers (PEOs)&nbsp;as&nbsp;Portfolio Acquisition Executives (PAEs), effective&nbsp;4 July 2026.
