Modernization Process Model (MPM) Version 26.01.13

The SAF/AQXP Strategic Change Management team has updated the MPM to version 26.01.13. This version of the model includes three new best practices/lessons learned documents and has had several AMIC processes updated to point to their new PowerApp Playbook when referencing various figures. In addition, the MPM has a new version numbering format which will follow a format of YY.MM.DD so users will always know when the last time the model was updated. Establishment of Portfolio Acquisition Executives (PAEs): Tranche 1 and Implications for the Modernization Process Model (MPM)

The Department of the Air Force is advancing a major transformation in how acquisition authorities are structured and executed with the establishment of Portfolio Acquisition Executives (PAEs). This change represents a foundational shift from the traditional Defense Acquisition System toward a warfighting acquisition system, aligning authority and accountability closer to execution and operational outcomes. Why PAEs Matter Section 1802 of the FY26 NDAA directed the replacement of Program Executive Officers (PEOs) with PAEs.
